The Seattle Mariners will become the latest team to have their game broadcasts produced and distributed by Major League Baseball when they leave their current regional network at the end of the season.
The Mariners announced Friday they will disband team-owned ROOT Sports NW at the end of this weekend's three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Other MLB teams that have moved to production and distribution of broadcasts through MLB in recent years include the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Guardians, Colorado Rockies, Minnesota Twins and San Diego Padres.
MLB had a direct-to-consumer streaming option for all five of those clubs this season.
The Mariners purchased a controlling stake in ROOT Sports NW in 2013, according to the Seattle Times, and were in charge of the regional network.
