Three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic limped off the court in discomfort after injuring his left knee in the closing seconds of the first half of the Denver Nuggets' clash with the host Miami Heat on Monday.
The Nuggets announced at the start of the half that Jokic was questionable to return.
Teammate Spencer Jones accidentally stepped on Jokic's left foot while being forced backwards by Miami's Jaime Jaquez Jr. under the Heat's basket.
The contact caused Jokic's left leg to hyperextend and Denver's superstar had to hobble slowly to the locker room with the score tied at 63 at the half.
Jokic -- who leads the league in rebounds and assists -- had 21 points, five boards and eight assists in 19 minutes to lead the Nuggets' rally from a 52-37 deficit. Jokic had 13 of his points in the second quarter.
