The Jacksonville Jaguars signed veteran running back Ameer Abdullah on Monday.
No terms of the deal were disclosed.
Abdullah, who turns 33 next month, is entering his 12th season in the league after being drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
He landed on season-ending injured reserve after a rib issue sustained in the San Francisco 49ers' preseason opener against the Denver Broncos Aug. 9 but was released on an injury settlement ten days later and signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
Abdullah compiled just 14 carries and 16 catches for 159 total yards and a touchdown in 13 games (0 starts) in a crowded Colts' backfield last season. However, he is expected to bring a veteran presence to a young Jacksonville running back core that includes Bhayshul Tuten and Chris Rodriguez Jr., as well as add value with his special teams experience, having tallied 4,346 career yards on kick returns.
For his career, Abdullah has rushed for 2,054 yards and nine TDs, and caught 219 passes for 1,567 yards and 11 scores in 154 regular-season games (26 starts) for the Detroit Lions (2015-18), Minnesota Vikings (2018-21), Carolina Panthers (2021), Las Vegas Raiders (2022-24) and Colts.
In other roster moves Monday, the Jaguars re-signed offensive lineman Sal Wormley, who spent last season on the Jaguars' practice squad as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State.
Jacksonville also waived running back Ja'Quinden Jackson and placed undrafted free agent offensive lineman Jordan White on the reserve/retired list.
