Albert Rusnak had a goal and an assist during a two-minute span of the second half to help the Seattle Sounders earn a 2-2 tie with the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night.
Jackson Ragen also scored on a night in which the Sounders (12-9-10, 46 points) clinched a Western Conference playoff spot despite seeing their winless stretch reach four matches (0-2-2).
Brian White and Mathias Laborda scored for the Whitecaps (16-6-9, 57 points), who moved into a tie with San Diego FC for first place in the West.
Seattle clinched the playoff spot during the match thanks to the Colorado Rapids playing to a tie against Minnesota United and the Houston Dynamo losing to Nashville SC.
Vancouver sustained a possible blow as White appeared to reinjure his hamstring and was replaced in the 78th minute.
This was just White's second match since missing slightly more than a month due to the injury.
Seattle's Stefan Frei and Vancouver's Yohei Takaoka each made three saves.
The tie gave Vancouver its record-breaking eighth Cascadia Cup title -- the annual three-team competition involving the Whitecaps, the Sounders and the Portland Timbers.
Seattle had an opportunity to win the match in the second minute of second-half stoppage time but Vancouver's Ralph Priso was stationed in front of the right portion of the net and blocked a right-footed blast by Georgi Minoungou.
Cristian Roldan's right-footed blast on the rebound was tipped away by Takaoka.
Vancouver had a bid in the seventh minute but Frei was able to knock away a right-footed blast from Sebastian Berhalter.
The teams played a scoreless first half before the match became wide open in the second.
White entered at halftime and received a pass from Thomas Muller in the 52nd minute, then sent a right-footer into the net.
Seattle responded with the two quick goals.
The first came on a corner kick in the 54th minute. Rusnak delivered a boot toward the box and Ragen sent a glancing one-hop header into the right corner of the net.
One minute later, Seattle was applying pressure and the ball rolled into the direction of Rusnak, who rushed in and sent a booming right-footer into the top of the net to give the Sounders a 2-1 advantage.
Vancouver knotted the score in the 69th minute when Berhalter's corner kick went toward the box and Laborda was able to head the ball into the left corner of the net.
Vancouver outshot Seattle 11-10 but the Sounders held a 6-5 edge on shots on target.
